JEWELRY DOs AND DON’Ts

Accessorizing with jewelry can take an outfit from boring to one that will get you noticed. You want to draw attention to your focal point (i.e. ears or hands) while expressing yourself. The right accessories will enhance your overall look and provide the fashion statement you want to project, but if you aren’t careful, you might overwhelm your appearance or distract from your wonderful personality. Here are some few tips to wear your jewelry like a pro;

  1. Use sparingly
    You don’t have to wear all your jewelry at one go. Three quarters of jewelry (bracelet, necklace and earrings) in one look might be too much, especially if they are large or matching pieces.
    Instead try wearing earrings with a bracelet or a necklace with rings. This way you look natural and not over done. For rings, you can choose dainty, thin and small ones which you can stack for a statement. For men, one signet ring or wedding band is considered to be enough. For example, you can wear our beautiful spiked neck piece with our Bana ring and look gorgeous whatever time of day it is.
  2. Mix and match
    You want your jewelry to complement each other and not necessarily match. You can try mixing and matching pieces that will complement your outfit. You can also add a pop of color to your jewelry, such as a bracelet with colorful stones like our Jiwe bracelet which has a dazzling centerpiece stone. The rule of thumb is that if you are wearing bright and printed clothes, your jewelry should be as simple as possible, and vice versa. For men, if you are wearing bracelets and a watch, just one bracelet is enough.
  3. Don’t overdo statement pieces
    Statement pieces are big pieces of jewelry that attract attention. If you wear a statement piece, choose among these three: bracelet, necklace or ring. Do not wear a statement ring, a statement bracelet and a statement necklace all at once as you will look overdone and ruin your outfit. A beautiful statement neck piece would be our Crystal neck piece which is a brass piece accompanied by a crystal centerpiece that will definitely make you stand out. Ps. Statement
    pieces do not need to be accompanied by any other jewelry pieces.
  4. Invest in classic and timeless pieces
    It is okay to have the latest fashion jewelry, but you should also invest in timeless pieces that will never go out of style. Examples of these are brass stud earrings, hoops, brass bangles, simple rings, pendant necklaces, chokers. You can wear these pieces with virtually any outfit, any day.
    You don’t have to think about if they will match because they definitely will, every single time.
    Just like the Chungu, Enzi or Mbegu studs. Now that’s a classic!

You can express your individuality, style and character with your jewelry. Plus you can wear just about anything you want. These pieces of advice are only here to guide you if you don’t have a clue on how best to wear jewelry, and you want a little bit of fashion help. It is also a good idea to have different types of jewelry that you can wear with any outfit.
