“Jewelry is like the perfect spice – it always complements what’s already there.”
– Diane von Furstenberg.
In today’s post, we shall look at a few different ways you can pair different neckpieces with different clothing necklines. Shall we? First things first, it is important to understand the different necklaces lengths and where they fall on the body. Where they fall on the body can be determined by the size of one’s neck, length of necklace and a person’s height. This needs to be considered as you coordinate you jewelry with your outfit.
PLAIN COLOURED OUTFIT + STATEMENT NECKPIECE
Some things to take note of when pairing such:
- Statement neck pieces are suitable for times when you are looking to add some edginess to your outfit.
- Such neck pieces draw attention to your neck and body.
- Do not let your outfit or neck piece overshadow the other. Coordinate both to enhance your appearance. Remember, this is why jewelry is considered an accessory. They add to your outfit to make it more stunning.
- Wear one statement piece at a time. For example, if you choose to wear a statement neck piece, do not wear any other statement jewelry piece.
BUTTONED UP COLLARED SHIRT + CHAIN NECKLACE
Some things to take note of when pairing such:
- For a classic-casual chic look, you can consider this.
- It is adaptable for some work spaces.
- If you are looking for jewelry qualities such as defining, visible, sleek, geometric, clean lines, polished and less combination of materials. This is it!
- The buttoned up shirt gives it a more formal look.
SCOOP/ROUND/SQUARE/OFF-SHOULDER NECKLINE + CHOKER/PRINCESS LENGTH NECKLACE
Some things to take note of when pairing such:
- The Choker (approx. 16” necklace length) and the Princess (approx. 18” necklace length) works well with different everyday outfits. Such neckpieces fall on the base of the throat/collarbone.
- For such types of necklaces, you can choose a design with or without a pendant.
- Some designs are limiting. Depending on the design, some neckpieces may not work with many different outfits. For example, if you choose a necklace that has a pendant forming a V-shape, it pairs best with neckline such as a V-neck top/blouse.
CREW
NECKLINE + COLLAR LENGTH NECKLACE
Some things to take note of when pairing such:
- The Collar design is approx. 14” in length. It fits around the neck. Depending on one’s neck size, you can get the measurements adjusted accordingly in order for it to feel comfortable around your neck.
- This type of necklace can be paired with a few different necklines such as the crew neckline. Also, just like above, depending on the design of necklaces it can be versatile or limiting. It all depends on the look you are trying to achieve.
- If you are looking to draw attention to your head and neck, go for a slightly thick solid neckpiece. In this case, pure brass is a go to material to help you stand out.
CREW NECKLINE/T-SHIRT + CHAIN NECKLACE
Some things to take note of when pairing such:
- Consider the material of the chain. The good thing about brass material is that you can have it polished, it gives it a vibrant finish.
- For such types of necklaces, you can choose a design with or without a pendant.
- Consider the length and thickness of the chain depending on the look you would like to achieve. We are all different therefore standard measurements do not fit all in a similar way.
- Chains are versatile in that, you can wear multiple chains of varying lengths for a layered look or just one chain to spice your outfit.
