DEAR BRIDE – You Can Do IT!

If hosting, say 30 guests in your home was a daunting task, now imagine hosting over 200 or 500 people, depending on the number of wedding guests you and your fiancé invite. Not to mention those who will attend without invitation (we know our people). It may seem a lot, but I am here to remind you that you can do it.
I find that in this season of planning for a wedding and transitioning to marriage, God avails immense Grace. I just want you to put it in your mind and heart that you can do it by God’s help.

I want to avoid this being a ‘ten-step-guide to planning a wedding.’ So I’ll just encourage you to employ some strategies here. Do not be in the “clouds” so much to think that your wedding will plan itself. Sis, it needs you to be involved because it is your wedding, even where you have a wedding planner. There may be specific things that you would like done a certain way and that is dependent on you and your fiancé to inform your wedding planner or committee or your parents. Please, do not be passive in your wedding planning.

People employ different strategies in planning a wedding from creating an excel sheet that breaks down every aspect of the wedding from finances and budget to roles to be shared with committee members amongst other members. Others use a wedding planning book (NoteItDown – check their website) while some brides chose to have friends, this could be a committee, with whom they do the whole planning with.

The strategies are many, choose one suitable and agreed on by you and your fiancé or family. Some people like me chose not to go the committee way because it can be overwhelming and only brought in a committee when we had planned everything, that included securing all vendors just leaving the task of allocating each committee member with a vendor for easy follow-up as we neared the D-Day.

Just know, you are able and will plan your wedding well. Don’t be intimidated by it. Always remember it is your wedding, your future memories you’re making. And the
most important thing to note is, always involve God in every part of this planning. Pray for the vendors you want to approach, the committee, the venue, the bridal team. Pray about everything, literally, and I hope that the goal is for your wedding to glorify God in every way.

Love,
