Easter Weekend…
A much-needed break for some, a time for vacation for others, an opportunity to catch up with friends and family for others and for some just a time to sleep a little more. While there is absolutely nothing wrong in spending this weekend in any of these ways, what exactly is the reason for the season?
It is time to receive a Gift so lavishly given to us. Well, rest is a gift and so are vacations and an extra hour or two of sleep, but there’s a greater gift. An eternal one.
Someone loved you and I so much, He gave Himself that we may have life, that we may not perish. Someone you and I hurt over and over made a way for us not to suffer the punishment we so rightfully deserved. Someone went through everything we should have gone through so that we wouldn’t. This is the Gift, the greatest Gift.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Did He have to? No, not at all. He was gonna be perfectly fine by Himself but He went out of His way to give His own life, subjecting Himself to His very Word so that we are perfectly pardoned.
Friends, we have a lot we could offer as gifts here but today we offer this Gift, Jesus.
Apart from Him, we truly have nothing to offer. It is by Him that we even have this platform to serve y’all in this way.
We don’t know where this holiday finds you this year, but we pray that you receive this precious gift. This love is not for a select few, it is abundant for everyone. ‘God loves you’, is not a feel good statement, it is truth. God loves you, fiercely. He cares for you, He wants you.
May His love engulf you this season, even if you may feel like you fell off. May this weekend get us back to the heart of God, love. Nothing can separate you from the love of God which is in Christ. Not anything you did, not anything you’ve done, not anything you’ll ever do.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
There’s nothing more precious than knowing this. God loves you and that is why He died. You and I have access to Him because of this sacrifice, this perfect sacrifice. You and I have hope because of this sacrifice.
There’s so much in God. There’s fullness of joy, there’s peace, there’s provision, there’s healing…the list is endless. However, we can only be partakers of these things by accepting the greatest gift given to man, Jesus.
Do you know Him? The lover of your soul?
We’d be delighted to lead you to Him this season, then Easter will never be just a holiday.
