‘GOOD IDEAS VS GOD IDEAS’
Mathew 5:13,14
You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses it’s flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
See, the thing about being a light and salt of the world is that you cannot do things the same way the world does because then the point is lost. We as believers are here on earth to establish God’s will on earth as it is in heaven, so even our ideas are His ideas and we execute them His way.
Now, there’s a difference between a good idea and God idea, well apart from the fact that one permanently has a capital G. A good idea is alright. It’s logical, applicable, marketable and is acceptable in most cases. A God idea however is perfect; it may not make sense or be acceptable but it is in every way perfect. Sometimes you’ll share your God idea with people and they’ll straight up just look at you like you’re crazy, and this really causes fall of for many start-ups.
1st Corinthians 3:19
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God…
What sounds brilliant and good in the world is different from what God sees as perfect. He chooses the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise and the weak things of the world to put to shame the might (1st Corinthians 1:27)
Seeking validation for God idea from the world is ripping it off of it’s glory and impact. This is why it is important to surround ourselves with like-minded people in such sensitive seasons. People who are able to see the heart of God in your idea and are willing to help steward God’s vision, people who in all wisdom and love will call you out on slacking. Needless to say, it’s important to be careful with who you share your God idea with.
Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
As long as you have sought and have clearly heard God’s word regarding your venture, you’re good to go when it’s time. It is important to research and acquire knowledge in the field that you’ve been called to as led of the Holy Spirit, but do not conform at any one point. Nothing else can sustain the God idea you have.
This is not just important in the beginning. It is something that needs to run through everyday of the business’ existence. Strategies and plans should always come from Him who gave the word from the beginning. He sustains His projects.
